Vinyl Delight

When I see strips of vinyl words made to attach to walls or plaques I imagine a huge, expensive, high-tech machine creating them. I thought I would just leave it to the pros and hire someone to make one for me. Boy, was I wrong! It is really quite simple to make your own vinyl designs. The machine you need is the Silhouette and it's not scary to use at all.

Pick your designs from the library or make your own, then size them, load your vinyl and the machine does the rest. When it's finished just peel away the extra vinyl, place transfer paper on your design and go to town rubbing it off on different materials. I especially love the way it looks on acrylic albums and glass.

Oh I have been dreaming of a way to do this! I will use it for decals for the car windows that I have designed. I have several glass cookie jars and apothecary jars that would love a little flair too!

I use vinyl as a stencil when I'm etching glass. In fact I made this necklace just yesterday:

My little one is getting big and I've been thinking about updating her nursery into a big-girl room. Some vinyl wall art would be so fun!

We love books in our house, and love words of all kinds. I think our walls need some words as well.

I think it would be cool to decorate some of those clear glasses vases that you recieve flowers in from the florist. Always need something to dress them up.

I have hand-me down basic pine furniture. I would use the vinyl to cut some scrolls and flowers and other shapes to add interest to the rather bland exteriors of this furniture. I also have a glass topped coffee table that would be fun to decorate with this vinyl product - I'm thinking large circles - automatic coasters!!

I have a very plain dresser in the hallway, and a vinyl flourish on each drawer would really dress it up! Thanks so much!

So far I've used the vinyl for home decor and to create a mask for glass etching, but I ADORE the idea of using it on an acrylic album. Thanks for the idea!

The vinyl looks so cool! What a fun tool. If I win vinyl, I guess I'll have to buy a silhouette, won't I? I'll have no choice, really.
