Pretty Handmade Mother's Day Card with Velvet Paper

If you need a last-minute Mother's Day gift, don't underestimate how much most mother's love cards! A personal card, made by you, with a special message is so appreciated.

We made ours with the Penrose paper pad and lot's of lovely velvet paper. We cut out various flower shapes using our cutting machine. Then, we arranged them onto our paper to make a pretty bouquet.

These kind of flowers really last. In fact, you could make a 3D bouquet for her to decorate with them too... or a wreath would be nice. There are so many ideas!

Pair them with a pretty necklace in a velvet-lined box and you've got the perfect gift. Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful ladies who influence others for good!

Today we have a couple more cards from our card kit to share. Then, starting next week we are going to show some fun velvet paper projects we've been working on. You're going to love them!

We think this first card is so perfect for Mother's Day. We love to add a little humor to our cards, while still making them pretty.

This card could work for so many different occasions. Our favorite part is that bow. We hop you have a wonderful weekend!

Handmade Mother's Day Gift

Hello SEI Fans!!

It's Piali here sharing a Mother's Day Gift idea with you all!!
Today I created a simple gift set using FOREVER SASSY paper collection and some gorgeous SEI foiled cardstocks.

A card, a gift box and mini frame...perfect handmade touch to the special gift for Moms.
I love the aqua wood grain paper from the Forever Sassy Collection. I used it as the cardfront ..

The floral tape runner is simply amazing!!!

I used the foiled cardstock to make my rolled flower and added pearls from Sundries pack.
I also used the silver washi tape.

The mini frame is super cute!

Just stamped a sentiment on same woodgrain paper and attached a silver foiled diecut butterfly.
I also embellished the butterfly with pearls from the Sundries pack.

I embellished a kraft box that I got from craftstore.

I used the same feather stickers, rolled flower, silver washi tape and diecut silver butterfly.

Hope you all like this gift idea!
Thanks for stopping by...
Happy Crafting!

Mother's Day Pinwheel Flower Card

Hi! It's Kelly here today to share with you a sweet little pinwheel card that I made for Mother's Day using the Forever Sassy collection.

For the pinwheel, I cut a 2x2 piece of patterned paper, and cut almost to the center from all four corners. I added a small piece of foam tape to the center, and folded down every other corner, and topped with a gem. I jabbed a toothpick into the foam tape for the stem, and secured the whole thing down to the top center of an embossed card base.

I arranged two different sized frames around the pinwheel - popping the top one up. A couple of chip leaves added to the base turned the pinwheel into a flower.

To finish up, I added the sentiment to the top frame using a button for the 'O', and just a small piece of scalloped border sticker to the bottom frame for the final touch.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Supply List:
Forever Sassy (Modern Girl, Stickers, Assorted Overlays, Sundries)
Hoo's Sweet (Stickers, Kraft Chip)

Handmade Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day is less than a week away! Don't forget to celebrate the mothers in your life and make them feel special. Need some ideas? Don't worry! We've got you covered. Here are a bunch of great ideas to get those creative juices flowing...

FANTASTIC BREAKFAST SURPRISE: If you've got plenty of time to work on creating a surprise, go all out with these amazing ideas mom will LOVE!
• Add details to her special meal, like a decorated breakfast tray, coordinating muffin topper, and more.
• Make her an altered book with quotes and pictures, like this one from Tessa Buys.
• Create your own bouquet with handmade flowers or make scalloped gift boxes with this free template.
• Use tumble dye to dress up plain placemats, napkins, and mason jars. Mom can not only use them, but keep them for later too.

PAMPERING HER WAY: Everyone has their own idea of what it means to be pampered, maybe it's a new outfit, bubble bath, or someone doing the dishes for you. What does your mom consider pampering?
• Gather everything mom needs for a special bubble bath and package it with pretty details. Emily Branch shows you exactly how to do it here.
• Handmade cards are the best, you can even give them to the mom who has everything. :) This one is by Sarah Webb.
• Here's another card. This one was created by Pearl Lui. We love the vellum pocket with a tag inside. You could make the tag a coupon for some special pampering.
• This tumble dye shirt is perfect for fashionista moms. She'll be impressed that you made something she actually wants to wear. :) Don't worry, its simple to do! Complete instructions are here.

QUICK & THOUGHTFUL: We realize you don't have a lot of time to put something together. So, if you're in a time-crunch but still want to give something handmade, get inspired by these ideas...
• Make a simple card. Yes, yes, we've said it before. But, if you're out of time, at least give your mom a card. Handmade is best!
• Maybe there's not time to whip up a fantastic breakfast surprise like our first idea, but here are two recipes you can put together before she gets up.
• Every mom loves a gift card to her favorite place to shop or treat herself. So, if you grab one, be sure to spend an extra minute to present it in a pretty way, like this pocket card by April Joy Hill.
• Iron-ons are super fast! Grab something blank (t-shirt, pillow, wooden box...) and iron-on a pretty design for mom.

We hope we've inspired you to make mother's day special this year!

Tessa's Altered Book

While at my local library a few weeks ago, I browsed the "free books" pile and found a small, yellow, hardback book. It was about a company's billboard advertising over the years, and although I didn't find that very interesting, I fell in love with the vintage cover. I knew at once that I would alter the book.

I pulled together my favorite papers from Mia Bella, Blooms and Blossoms, and Think of Me, trying to use mostly scraps and leftover pieces from other projects. I used a few extras like doilies, vintage paper, vellum, and a few gold accents from my stash. I also used a good dose of washi tape and mist.

The book features photos of my three boys and quotations about motherhood. I think it will be nice to flip through these pages after a long day, if for no other reason than to remind myself of why I love being their Mom.

One of my favorite parts of making this book was discovering cut files in the Silhouette store by SEI! Yes, the delicate flower cuts that you see throughout the book are by SEI! Aren't they beautiful? Be sure to check out SEI's portfolio next time you are shopping there.

I made a slideshow of the all pages and details so that you could see as much of the book as possible. Enjoy! And next time you're at the library, think about rescuing an old gem to make your own altered book!

Mother's Day Spa Box Gift

Mom's are always busy, on the go, worrying about the family and tending the house. Rarely, do they get a break to relax with a glass of wine, some calming music and the lights turned down low.

Since most mom's won't be getting any of that with the hectic pace of daily life, why not help your mom relax by wrapping up some spa essentials for Mother's Day featuring SEI's most recent collection, Diane.

Aromatherapy is a nice way to relax, so consider including bath salts to your spa box as well as a loofa for an invigorating feel. Choose products like mini shampoo's, conditioners and lotion that can easily be tucked in a box. They're easy to decorate with patterned paper and not too heavy.

You don't want to make a mess, so make sure to package your spa box just right, so it's easy to use

| PACK OF LOOFAHS | Wrap a few loofah sponges in a glassine bag, and secure with a mat of die cut labels from Morning Walk and Close of Day. Attach a tag with baker's twine

| PACK OF BATH SALTS | Don't forget to package bath salts in a glassine bag for a luxurious aromatherapy bath. Package in the same way as the loofahs.

| ESSENTIALS | Match the shampoo, conditioner and Lotion to the set by mounting Garden Party on Light of Dawn and adhering it to the bottle.

Place your spa essentials in a box, decorate and VOILA--you have a beautifully wrapped spa box filled with every thing she needs to relax.

materials: Morning Walk | Close of Day | Garden Party | Light of Dawn | Tag | Stickers | Flowers

Mother's Day Cards

I find that Mother's Day always sneaks up on me. I thought that would change when I became a mom, but no such luck. I have been trying to be a little more organized about cards. I admit that although I am a crafter, I often don't have just the right card on hand and I am trying to change that. I started up a list of all the occasions that I would like to have a card for, and Mother's day made the list. I am fortunate enough to have both my Mom and my Mother-in-law involved in our everyday lives, so I created two similar cards, one for each.

I pulled the tags out of the Diane collection. I thought they were a little long for the card, so I used a border punch to add fun detail and to shorten the tags a little bit. The colours and the mix of flower patterns suit a spring/Mother's day day card perfectly!

I hope I've inspired you to think about Mother's Day or about your card stash ;)

Cheers,
Sarah

"Mum": Mother's Day Card

Hi there! Pearl here to share a card for Mum to get you thinking about Mother's Day. Diane is perfect for it's vibrant regal purples but soft and feminine watercolor florals. I made a tag card by sewing a pocket with vellum so that the tag shows through.

Here's a closer look. I cut a flower from Diane, bundled it with a velvet leaf from Mirelle Sundries, tied it together with some twine and added a "Mum" tag. To add some sparkle, I added rhinestones also from Mirelle Sundries.

And lastly, here's a look at the tag pulled out.

I'm sure you're already thinking about all the moms in your life! But if you haven't, it's not too late to have a look at Diane collection.

Happy Mother's Day Card

Mother's Day is right around the corner, so if you haven't already, don't forget to make dear mum a card! I made this bright and colorful card for my mom very simply by using the gorgeous butterfly pattern cardstock from the SEI Field Notes collection.

The pattern is beautiful but it can be a bit overwhelming, so to break up the business of the paper, I added kraft cardstock embellishments in form of a 3-D butterfly that appears to be flying from the colorful bunch. I also added a kraft label and printed "Happy Mother's Day" on it.

Lastly, to bring just a bit more softness to the card, I pleated some cream colored tissue paper and zig zag stitched it to the card to continue the fun and natural look of the card. I think it's a great way to wish mom a happy day, don't you?

Mother's Day Breakfast

Mother's Day is May 13th this year. So, it's definitely not too early to start making plans. How about a lovely breakfast in bed?

Club SEI has some great ideas that will make your Mother's Day breakfast extra special. It's all about those thoughtful special touches.

First, make a special breakfast tray. For ours, we used some of the contents of the April Scrapbooking kit, including the rays of bright perf sheet and Vanilla Sunshine alphabet stickers.

Add a special gift to your tray. We recommend her favorite book with a bookmark made just for her. No gift is complete without a handcrafted card.

Last, add simple touches to her meal to make it look as good as it tastes. We added a few little borders to our cup and muffin wrap. Then put a die-cut on the spoon. We also added embellishments to a skewer and placed it inside our muffin.

These projects were made as an alternate project using some of the contents of the Club SEI April Paper-crafting Kit. To learn more about Club SEI, go to www.clubsei.com.
