I think fall is such a great season! We celebrate Halloween, the fair arrives and also the cooler weather. I think it's one of the slower parts of the year where you can just relax and have fun. For this layout I wanted to use several of the papers from the SEI halloween collection. I used a page from the lexington card pad also because it had an orangey tone to it. A lot of times I don't like to use traditional holiday colors so I'll throw in some others to break them up a bit.
I created a frame here using a scrap template that I had laying around and layered it on top of the other papers for more dimension. I love to stack and layer and place things behind other things. Inside the frame you can see several of the chipboard elements and stickers from the Halloween kit. I just layered as many as I could get in one corner, I think the more the better! The sticker sheet in the kit has some really great stickers that can be used to layer on your layouts or for holiday cards.
As you can see my little guy has on his homemade Darth Vader outfit made by none other than his mom! It's always fun to see them enjoying the holiday!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Hi everyone, I wanted to create a layout around the colors of fall. There are some really great golden hues throughout the new Entrada and Mirelle collections. For my layout I wanted to use a photo of a branch full of golden leaves. It went perfectly with a lot of the patterned papers. I used the beige canvas paper in the collection as my base and sort of distressed the edges a little because I like things a little bit messy. Then I layered several of the papers on top of each other.
I see one of the trends this season is the layering of leaves and other handcut fall elements. I cut my leaves from white cardstock using a simple pattern but you can draw them however you like or cut them from a cutting machine. I used beige cardstock as my base paper so I wanted the leaves to stand out a little, and the white really does that.
To complete the layout I made a hand cut title with a gold pen. It's a little fussy cutting but really does give a layout a more personal feel. I really enjoy making layouts themed for the season and I'm so excited that fall is on it's way!
I made this layout about my little guy and our famous pizza days. The Entrada collection was an instant favorite being that I love green and just about every tone of it. They had me at the wild animal prints and vivid patterns and they all coordinate so well together. So I layered several sheets of different patterned papers in a basic grid and created a little sketch around the edges for a crafty stitched effect.
One of the things I love to do is make little hand drawn elements to add to my layouts. I made these little hearts and then water-colored them in with a cool turquoise color. They were sitting in my stash just waiting for the perfect layout.
I added a few other things such as the lettered word snapshot that I cut out from regular white cardstock. I don't have the best handwriting so I just take my time and it comes out pretty neat. Nevermind if you don't like your handwriting I still think it looks quite nice.
Hi Kim here to share a selection of cards with you today! The lexington Card making pad from Sei has just the right complimentary colors to make some very quick and easy cards.
I like layering a few different patterns on bright white cardstock and then adding a few other things like sketched flowers, stickers and string. I wanted them to be bright and fresh, but still simple and pretty. For some of the cards I used a layer of gesso just for a more shabby distressed look.
I like to adhere my stickers to cardstock first and then cut them out so that I can add them to my cards with pop dots. That's a good way to add dimension and then you can also place things underneath them.
I used a few stickers on each card and then layered little butterflies and flowers around them. Once I made the first card I kept with the same theme and came up with a few that all went very well together. I really like the idea of a card pad because all the necessary items are there, all you need is a nice set of cards!
For this layout I layered several little strips of patterned paper from several of the collections. Since Field Notes was my favorite I wanted to keep it a little eclectic and all about the birds! These little bird journal cards were so fun and simple to add to a layout. I wanted to showcase this one by layering one of the package tops over it. I like the idea of creating little frames and the openings in the packaging where perfect for this.
I added a few banner strips that had been glittered just a little for some sparkle. I kept the colors soft and muted to go along with the calm coloring of the bird on the card.
Some other things I tried were adding a fun sticker from the Mayberry collection sticker sheet. It just great with the layout!
To finish I had to add a few of my hand drawn feathers to keep it a little quirky and whimsical! I loved how they turned out. A lot of my doodles are drawn beforehand and I never really know which layout they might end up on. After coloring these in some soft yellows and golden tones I added to the top of layout. Thanks for looking!
Sometimes I attempt to use another background besides white or vanilla and this kraft was one I had been hoarding for awhile so this was the perfect time! I love layering some of these cute papers together. I used a little Vanilla Sunshine and Mayberry here.
I started with that lovely grey bird pattern and loved the peachy tones in this one too so I looked through the papers for others with similar tones in them. Mayberry has some really nice peach and oranges in the collection that work great for all those beach and summer photos. Here I used a cute photo of my niece on the beach in here oh so classy shades!
The summer is such a wonderful season to breathe the fresh air, get outdoors and just enjoy the sunshine! I added a little festive banner and a few doodled flowers to express that in my layout!
For this layout I used a lot of little elements from all the past collections including mayberry, field notes and promise me. Every few months or so I like to go through my stash of papers and pull out ones that I never really got around to using or could not find the right project for. For the leaves on my layout I went back to promise me collection and thought the pinks where perfect to go along with the other bright colors I wanted to use.
I began cutting the leaves from some of my past cutouts and began layering them and also using some pop dots for dimension. I like to layer sort of randomly until the composition looks right.
For my little banner I wanted to use the little tickets from the mayberry collection, they have such great bright colors and they say all the right things. And I just placed them haphazardly along the side of my other layered tags.
I always want to use paint chips in some way on my layouts and in this case I used a strip alongside the base of the layout just for added color. I finished things off with some twine, buttons and a little bright neon ribbon.
This project started with a combination of a few collections Mayberry and Field Notes. I really enjoy layering different patterns along with unexpected elements. For instance I used a stencil to create the "M" on my layout. I placed pop dots beneath it to add a little dimension. I don't own any kind of cutting machine but sometimes I find that there are all kinds of things out there to create your own original cutouts!
I like to create a lot of my own embellishments sometimes using things from my stash of odd and ends. A few things I did on this layout is make a kraft tag using a stencil to write the word heart on it. Also I added a few sparkly sequins and rhinestones along with a little twine. These can also be added to gifts for a personal touch!
A few other things I included where a hand cut arrow, painted wooden heart and little doodled flower. All these little elements add a touch of you to the project. I like to keep it fun and all about memory keeping but also about making the most of the things that you have.
I wanted to create a simple little journal to keep ideas and little notes in for some upcoming trips I have planned over the summer. Something small like this is ideal and can be kept close for adding things you don't want to forget. It was pretty simple...I used the bone folder and used one half of the big slab map paper. I used a few sheets of plain white paper and used the cover as a guide to cut all the pages. Once they were folded in half I punched a little hole in both ends to bind them all together. I used twine here but you can use thin ribbon or even colorful yarn.
I used a little journal card and tag to add a little detail to the cover...and also one of those oh so cute badges! All you need to do is add some dates and your own memories along your journey!
For this layout I wanted to use a lot of the fun little tags and collection stickers included in the Mayberry kit. There are all sorts of little die cuts and patterned paper sheets to cut these little bits from. I cut several from the Blue plate special paper and used some of the really great tags from the perforated sheet. I adore the colors of the collection, it includes lots of pink, oranges and greens which are very versatile and can be used for all kinds of occasions.
I started with a simple grid with a few tags and small squares of patterned papers. I used the double sided varnish papers in Jive and the big slab. The big slab sheet was one of my favorites of the collection because I love maps because they are all about going places and traveling, one of my favorite things to do!
Once I had base of a few tags and papers I started adding other die cuts using pop dots to create some dimension throughout the page. The thing that inspired this layout most was the many memories I've had of driving and seeing all the billboards of restaurants and places to stop along the way.
I didn't stop there...I kept adding more layers to create a more exaggerated layered effect. Since there are so many die cuts and choices of tags in this collection you don't have to worry about using to many! I finished the layout by using one of the badges and a few of the tiny puffy car stickers. This was a really fun collection to work with with tons of versatility!
On this layout I created a small little collage of chipboard pieces and die cuts. I love these little iconic symbols like the route 66 sign and diner check which we've all seen at small diners you might stop at on a road trip!
I layered a bunch of these cut outs around the photo and included a little journal tag behind it to write small notes or dates on. It's a simple way to hide journaling if you don't want to include it on a page.
All of the papers being double sided can be used for different things. I used the letter side of the chrome plated foil paper.
Included in the kit is a great sticker sheet with these cool car stickers on it. I used one here with a few pop dots for some added dimension and you are able to see a little of the layering behind it! All of the little pieces in the kit were so fun!
On this page I wanted to used some of the great oranges in the Field Notes collection. All the patterns are so unique and create such a fantastic contrast against one another. I created a few more layers this time by adding one pattern on the top of another. I like to make the top layer smaller and just pinch it back a little so you can see the underlying pattern. I went with a basic square and cut a little opening in the middle for the other elements of my layout.
Using the Vignettes paper, which has all sorts of little frames on it, I create a sort of gallery tiled in the middle of my square. I used some basic water-colored images in oranges and yellows and attached them on the back of each frame to make little small art images. You can use other things as well, photos or other memorabilia. I added a small photo to the middle of one of mine.
For some added embellishment I added some other die cuts such as a butterfly and little banners from the sample box of die cuts and some little leaves punched from and ordinary hand punch.
One of my favorite patterns from the Field Notes collection was the cross section patterned paper which has bright yellow foil pattern on one side and a lovely hand drawn pattern on the other. I hand cut one of the sketched flowers out to add to my layout. I love the contrast of the black and white sketched flower with all the springy brights in the paper collections. The collections are just fantastic for creating some fun and interesting layouts for spring!
For my Be creative layout I used a combination of the Field Notes and Vanilla Sunshine collection. I love the combination of mellow and bright patterns in these lines. Especially the olives and yellows that are present throughout each of these lines. Yellow being one of my favorite colors I tend to use it in just about all my layouts. The Field Notes collection has just the right amount of graphic images along with great springtime patterns.
I created a grid-like pattern of a several different papers, including some of the cardstock included in the collections. Sometimes a simpler layout in different sized squares creates a bigger impact. It's my go to layout whenever I'm stuck or just want to use some interesting patterns together. Whenever you have a pattern that you're not particularly sure how or where to use just choose some contrasting patterns and colors. They all work together most of the time and they will make your layout just a little more interesting!
For this page I kept things pretty simple and only used a few embellishments including some of the Field Notes stickers and die cut elements. I attached some of the stickers on one of my squares. To offset the grid a little I used a banner sticker on one side of my layout and another hand cut banner strip along the other side.
I completed the layout with the fun and colorful banner stickers from the Field Notes sticker sheet. My layout was very colorful so I used a great black and white photo of my niece. I love the contrast between bright colors and black and white photos.
The flower adds some great dimension to the layout. Would you like to make one too? Kim explains how...
"The flower is made from punching circles, about 7-15, making a slit and hot gluing them together and then layering them as much as you want. I hand cut the leaves and folded them in half. I also used some of the pastel fabric among all the other layers."
Kim used our three newest collections (Vanilla Sunshine, Field Notes, & Desert Springs) to create this "amazing" layout. She incorporated lot's of fun elements... fabric swatches, stamps, glitter, die-cut leaves, staples...
To create the banner, Kim used a flag-shaped stamp. Then she painted watercolor on top.
Kim mixed elements from our three newest paper collections for this layout. It's always fun to see different ways to use the embellishments. One of the unique things Kim did on this layout was layering several differentborders under her photo.
"Twirl was inspired by spring and the golden hues of the sunset. I just loved this yellow patterned paper in the field notes collection. I used it as the main background for my page and then several strips of paper along the sides. Also I used some of the fabric paper, it's subtle and soft and the pink is such a great contrast against the yellow. I love all the little accents in the collection, the dimensional stickers and corrugated alpha letters."
This detail photo shows how Kim added dimension. She folded the butterfly wings and banner die-cut and used foam spacers for added depth. What is your favorite way to add depth to a scrapbook layout?
