"Day" 1: DIY Velvet Paper Garland

It's the most wonderful time of the year! To celebrate, we are having our annual 12 "Days" of Christmas Ideas. Each day this week (Monday-Saturday) we will have 2 simple Christmas gift to share. At the end of the week we will have a giveaway!

The first idea we have is a DIY velvet paper garland. This is a great gift for someone without a lot of holiday decor, like a newlywed couple or college student. But, everyone likes a little something new to liven up their decor. It's also really easy to mail and goes great with a gift card.

Supplies:
Velvet Paper
Shape Punches
Sewing Machine

Directions:
1. Punch several shapes out of your velvet paper. Circles are great or use special Christmas shapes if you have them!
2. Using you sewing machine, sew through the center of each shape until your garland is the desired length.
3. Done! Wrap and give away or hang in your own home. :)

Check back later today. Sarah Webb is sharing a useful & festive gift idea for the Christmas season.

I love this and love the idea of using velvet paper for texture.
