I took many, many photos on my phone during the holidays this past year. The memories I captured were special, but the quality of the photos wasn't what I needed for full-size scrapbook layouts. Phone photos tend to look best in smaller sizes. So, in order to document some of these poor but important photos, I created this mini album with the Holiday Traditions collection:
I began by pulling my favorite white and gold papers from the line. I cut them down to varying sizes, all around 5 x 5 inches. I backed each piece with an identical pattern so that the more colorful sides wouldn't show. I embellished with the gold washi tape and the glitter dots, as well as feathers, thread and doilies from my personal stash.
I added tag pages to hold typed journaling. That way I didn't need to clutter the small pages with words and I could let the photos be central.
I loved using the trim from the collection to accent my page edges. To create the gold ruffle, I sewed down the center of the crepe paper trim with a basting stitch, then gathered the trim as I held tight to the top thread. The gold ribbon and lace trim are simply cut to size and glued in place.
To bind my little book, I used large, jewelry-making jump rings. I love the way the petite rings look and that they are gold (instead of silver like the office supply store binder rings).
If you have photos you deem not worthy of scrapbooking, consider using them in smaller sizes and filling a mini album. And don't forget - the Holiday Traditions line is a great choice for accompanying those holiday photos!

This album is very cute and even pretty. Good use of the gold papers and embellishments. I like it very much.
Super book. How do you print your photos in a small size? All online services seem to do nothing smaller than 4x6. Thanks!
