Halloween Mini Book Album

Hello, hello! It's Melissa here today with a Halloween mini book made with the new "Salem Heights" Paper pack.

To begin with, I took one of the SEI 4x6 Preservation Series albums and altered it for this project. I covered the pink background with pattern paper and covered the insides of the chipboard covers. I used some washi tape and stitched it down on the front cover and then layered various pattern papers, stickers, & chipboard. I used one of the stickers from the sticker sheet in the collection as part of my title and used the corrugated cardboard numbers for the "2012" part of my title.

The inside pages were super easy to put together. I simply cut out blocks of 4x6 pattern papers and used stickers on them and slipped them in one page of each spread. One side will be for the photo and the other side will have the pattern paper/embellishment. There is also room for any journaling or additional pictures you may want to add.

Thanks again for joining me today!

You're Sew Special

Hey everyone! Melissa here today with a greeting card! I made this card with the Lexington Card Maker paper pad and a few brads!

First, I cut a block of Kraft paper and folded it in half for my card base; I cut a block of red pattern paper and stitched it down to the Kraft card stock. Then I cut three strips of the text pattern paper and rounded the edges. These got stitched down on top of the other pattern paper. I took one of the sticker sentiments that was included in the Paper Pack and backed it with some Kraft card stock. I cut that out and used foam dots to adhere it down. Lastly, I punched out some circles from various pattern papers in the paper pad and crumpled them up. I then unfolded them and layered them together, punched three holes in the middle and pushed brads through them. I adhered this down in the lower left hand corner.

Thanks for joining me on the blog today! Have a fantastic day!

Grateful Card

Good Morning! I'm back again today with a greeting card that I made using the "Lexington" Card Maker paper pack. This pack includes 25 sheets with a sticker sheet. The stickers have fabulous phrases to use on a card.

I cut a block of yellow card stock to 10"x7" and folded in half. I cut a block of pattern paper and a smaller block of a different pattern paper and adhered them together using my sewing machine. I cut a block of white card stock, rounded the corners, and inked the edges. I used foam dots to adhere this down. I placed one of the sticker sentiment phrases on it and tied a piece of yellow twine around it. A few little flowers and brads from the Vanilla Sunshine Sundries finished the card off! I love using collections of paper to create cards - the papers all work well together and your cards come together quickly!

Have a fabulous day!

Father & Son

Hello, hello! It's Melissa here on the blog today sharing a layout with a customized inked background!

This layout came together super quick! I used mostly neutral tones for all embellishments and papers but I used some color on my inked card stock background. I took the SEI chalk ink pads and pressed the ink pad directly onto the white paper. I used three different colors and stamped all over, making sure to stamp "off the page".

After letting that dry for a few minutes, I adhered a block of the text pattern paper from the SEI card making kit. I used a border punch on the top and bottom of this block of paper. I layered my four photos on the layout and then placed the strips of chevron along the top and bottom. I cut the chevron strips out of the pattern paper from the new "Mirelle" collection that will be available in October. I punched some stars out of the text pattern paper and used foam dots for dimension to adhere them down. Jewels and twine were also used to ground the layout. Lastly, I placed the large cardboard ampersand in the middle of the photos and then placed my small alphabet stickers on the chevron strips for the title.

As shown, ink pads can be used in a variety of ways and not just for inking stamps! Take your project to that next level by thinking outside the box! Thanks for visiting the SEI blog today!

Fun Galore Greeting Card

Hello, hello! I hope you all are having a fantastic week! I'm back again on the blog today with a cute greeting card I whipped up using the "Mayberry" Collection! This collection is a great one to document summer, travel, and anything retro!

I cut a block of white card stock to 10x7 and folded it in half. I stitched a piece of pattern paper down and then hand cut out a faux polaroid frame using the black and white pattern paper. I embellished the card with arrow diecuts, stickers, and a smiley face badge! Arrows are a hot trend in the paper arena these days and I used my tiny attacher to attach several of them on the bottom of my card.

I'd love to see what you create with this new "Mayberry" collection! It's a super easy line to work with!

Butterfly Shadow Box

Good morning, everyone! It's Melissa here on the blog today and I am showing you a pretty little shadow box I put together! This little box was super easy to put together and only consists of two pieces! It can't get much easier than that :-)

First, I took the base of the piece and measured an 8x8 piece of paper from the "Field Notes" collection. I liked the ledger/script pattern on the back - it made me think of putting together the old insect collections back in elementary school! I adhered down the background piece of paper and then used another foiled paper from the same collection for the inside panels of the box. You don't necessarily see this when looking straight on at the shadow box, but it gives the box a finished look - especially if someone is up close and inspecting it!

Secondly, I painted the outside "frame" with white gesso and then set it aside to dry. The fun part was next! I gathered up my butterfly punches and punched a bunch of butterflies from various pattern papers. I also used some of the die cut butterflies from the collection and I even fussy cut out a couple of them from the foiled pattern paper.

I started to adhere these down on the background using foam dots for many of them. Some of them I layered and some of them were just flat against the paper. On some of the butterflies, I placed a foam dot underneath the head and used pins as the antennae and simply pushed them into the foam dot! Lastly, I glued down some gold sequins around the butterflies. At this point, I adhered down the outside frame and the box was completed! This would look great in an office, school room, or in a bedroom.

Thanks for letting me share this project with you! Have a fantastic day!

Spiral Bound Journal

Hello everyone! It's Melissa here on the blog today with a altered spiral bound journal I put together using the Field Notes Collection. I love little notebooks to carry miscellaneous lists, papers, coupons, etc. in and this little journal would be perfect for it. It would also make a terrific gift for someone such as a teacher or a friend!

To create this journal, I took the Spiral Bound Journal and covered the front in the striped black and white Field Notes pattern paper. I adhered another block of paper on top of that and then cut out one of the perforated tags that had a bird on it.

I tucked a couple of manila tags underneath the bird tag and also wrapped some twine around the tag. I cut out one of the foiled butterflies from the Field Notes paper and tucked it under one corner of the bird tag.

I finished it off by adding a brass clip to the bird tag, a dragonfly to the lower left hand corner and a flower embellishment. In no time at all, I had this sweet little journal ready to go!

You Are the Mann

Good Morning! I'm excited to share a layout on the blog today that uses a lot of papers from the Vanilla Sunshine collection! I really adore the colors and patterns that are included in this collection - makes it super easy to scrap with them.

To create this layout, I took a 12x12 piece of Kraft card stock and stitched down the SEI die-cut paper using my sewing machine. I layered pattern papers and manila tags in the middle of the layout and stitched down a couple of border strips from the Vanilla Sunshine collection across the lower half of the block. I adhered two copies of my photo down, stacking them on top of each other; my title went to the right side of the photos and I stapled a couple of tabs at the top. I punched out some circles and placed them in some random areas of my layout and typed out my journaling and adhered it to the bottom of the layout underneath the photos. I took some of the gold sequins that were included in a Sundry collection and sprinkled them across the layout.

Thanks for letting me share this on the blog today! I can't wait to see what you create with the Vanilla Sunshine Collection!

NYC Road Trip Scrapbook Layout

Hello again, everyone! It's Melissa and it's my turn on the blog again today and I am bringing a travel themed layout to you! The design team received the fun new "Mayberry" line and I adored all of the travel themed embellishments and papers included in it! I used photos that I took with my phone last summer when my family and I made an impromptu trip to New York City to celebrate the life of my Nana.

I first cut a block of the alphabet pattern paper and adhered it to my black card stock. Then I cut various sized blocks from the map pattern paper and adhered those all down with my sewing machine. From there, I chose some of the blocks to act as a mat for my photos; some other blocks had a manila tag and chipboard embellishments adhered to it; and one block help my title and journaling. I loved the corrugated cardboard shapes included in the collection and sprinkled those across my layout as well.

Make sure to remember using your phone as a camera when you are out on the road! It is easier to get those shots that you may not be able to grab with your regular DSLR while on your vacation!

Graduation Card: On Your Way Up!

Good Morning! It's Melissa here again today with a simple little graduation themed greeting card!

The vinyl arrows that were included in the die-cut package in the "Mayberry" collection were super fun and I had the thought that they would be great fun to use on a card. I cut a block of Kraft card stock to 10" x 7" and folded it in half. I cut a block of the Blue Plate special paper a smidge smaller than 5"x7" and adhered that to the Kraft card stock. I stitched down a block of white card stock on top of the other two layers. Then, I placed four of the vinyl arrows all pointing up on top of the block of white card stock and stitched them down right in the center. I typed up the sentiment "you are on your way up!!" with my typewriter and used some dimensional dots to pop it up on top of the arrows. Finally, I inked the edges of the Kraft card stock!

This would be a great card to tuck a gift card into and give to a proud graduate! Thank you for joining me today on the SEI blog!

Bloom Where You're Planted

Thanks for stopping at the SEI blog today! I'm sharing a simple greeting card that I created using the Field Notes Collection!

To create this card, I cut a block of white card stock down to 10" x 7" and folded it in half to create a 5" x 7" card. I cut out a block from the Butterfly Collection Paper and stitched it down to the white cardstock. I cut a block from the Arboretum paper and used some pop dots to adhere that down. I matted one of the Field Notes Curated blocks with some of the black striped paper and adhered that down.

A quick and easy card that would brighten someone's day! Thanks for stopping by today and taking a peek at this little card!

Lucy Lou

Hello everyone! I love this photo of my "baby" Lucy! I decided to pair these black and white photos with the Vanilla Sunshine collection due to its bright colors. I love the juxtaposition of the muted photo and pops of bright colors from the papers and embellishments!

I stitched down two blocks of the pattern paper and then layered the three photos matted in Kraft card stock on top. I layered a couple of the border strips near the bottom of the layout and used my sewing machine to stitch them down. I placed one of the fabric swatches underneath two of the photos and used this as my title and journaling block.

After getting the major parts of my layout down, I placed a few dimensional stickers down from the Vanilla Sunshine collection. I also punched out a few hearts of two different sizes from the Kraft card stock and sprinkled it down the length of my layout. I used some pop dots on some of them for dimension. I love the tone-on-tone look it creates! Thanks for letting me share this layout on the blog today! I can't wait to see what you create with this colorful collection!

Enjoy the Journey

I love the "Vanilla Sunshine" collection with its bright colorful papers! I matted a piece of pattern paper with white cardstock and stitched around the edge. I placed the bicycle sticker at the bottom of the card and used pop dots for the sentiment. A quick, simple little card that will brighten someone's day!

Florida Sunset

This layout, created by Melissa, really shows off the beautiful summer colors in the Field Notes collection. It's a lot of fun to layer them on craft paper because it makes them pop!

"To create this layout, I stacked paper strips from the 'Field Notes' collection and placed my picture at the top of the stack. I created an embellishment cluster in the lower left hand corner and placed a couple of additional butterflies on the layout. I love the jewel tones in this collection and it is perfect for scrapping those outdoor photos!"

The orange butterflies pick up the colors from the lovely sunset photos she took. To make their wings more dimensional, simply fold them up along the edge of their body, like Melissa did.

Breakfast Date Scrapbook Layout

Happy Monday Everyone! We hope you had a relaxing weekend of sleeping in... and maybe a breakfast date? Doesn't that sound nice? Melissa has such great ideas. She used a combination of several collections for her layout.

"To create the background of this layout, I punched a bunch of squares from different pattern papers. I placed them in rows and flipped them to be a diamond shape. I then used my sewing machine to stitch through the middles of each square. This created a beautiful textured background to place my photo and embellishments on!"

This kind of "argyle" design is a great way to use up scraps of paper and extra embellishments. The rhinestones, tag and swirly paper clip are from the Field Notes sundries. The "I Love You" tag and fabric swatch is from the Vanilla Sunshine collection. The washi tape, cardboard alpha, and stickers are from different collections too.

Make it a great week!

I Will be Grateful for This Day Card

Melissa proves you don't have to spend a lot of time and energy to put together a beautiful card. You just need a good idea and the right products! Here she explains how she created this one using the Desert Springs stickers.

"This sweet little card was super easy to put together. I loved the little banner stickers that were included in the new Desert Springs collection. I placed the stickers in the shape of a banner and then used my sewing machine to create the 'garland' for the banner. I popped up the sentiment with some pop dots for dimension - super simple!"
