Fall Banner DIY With Scrapbook Paper & Banner Kit

This adorable banner was made using our banner kit and fall paper pack.

We cut the autumn papers into leave and flag shapes and whipped this cutie up in no time. How would you use this autumn paper pack?

Pretty Banner for Girl's Room

Hello there! What have you been up to this summer? Me...I'm in full swing redecorating my daughter's room and it's been so much fun!

My SEI paper collection has been a great way to find terrific inspiration for projects. I needed something to add color to my daughter's room and decided on a banner to hang across her closet, where we've built in a desk.

I used my Silhouette Digital Cutter to do all the hard work. The really fun part was picking out the papers and embellishments! I used paper from several collections, including Promise Me, Vanilla Sunshine and Field Notes.

Since I wanted the papers to really shine I added few embellishments to cover them up. The Promise Me vellum hearts and Vanilla Sunshine Borders were perfect to finish it off. It's been a really fun addition to the room!

Birthday Parties

Who would have guessed the A Fair Day collection would work so well for birthday parties? Audrey shows us how it's done on her My Wish for You layout.

She did a wonderful job of using the A Fair Day elements in unexpected ways. Notice how she cut the scalloped paper and layered it?

Instead of writing her journaling on the tag with lines, she put her title there. It's ok to ignore those lines, really. See?

Audrey also cut some of the balloons off their strings and used real string to tie them together in a bouquet. Perfect for a birthday!

We made a little banner out of the popcorn holders that come with the A Fair Day club kit. Just a few snips with scissors and voila! It would work great for a birthday party or any celebration. We love using things in unexpected ways!

Cinco de Mayo, make some banners!

Arriba! Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day. Although I'm not of Mexican descent it's a wonderful holiday to celebrate my appreciation for Mexican culture. I love Mexican food above all foods and so it's a great day to bring out all my favorite recipes. Cinco de Mayo cannot be complete without colorful decorations. My favorite decorations have always been the hand cut banners that are displayed on streets. Josh helped us figure out how to make our own. I know it's a little short notice but they don't take long.

Here are the Banner Instructions:


• We just took a 10" x 10.5" rectangle of tissue paper. We folded it up (like a fan) as shown above.
• Once folded, we cut out shapes (kind of like a snowflake). It took a few practice sheets before we got it right.
• Use different materials to cut out shapes. Mandi used an exacto knife, Josh used scissors and I used different paper punches.
• When we were done cutting, we used an iron on low heat to iron out the fold lines.
-You can use this idea to make your own lace paper for scrap booking or have these banners up for a birthday or party.

Mandi also came up with a custom drink sleeve to use for your celebrations. These along with some store bought pom-pom toothpicks should be a good starting place for your festivities! Just click the image to enlarge and print.
